Owners and head Testimonial and Colleen Mulvey O’Leary teach kids about all things Irish.
All our teachers are dedicated and professional coming from all areas in Ireland, giving children an opportunity to meet Irish teachers. All our teachers are qualified to teach children to play an instrument, dancing, or helping kids to learn about Irish history and understand the Irish language.
In addition to our camps, we teach dancing, host Irish language classes and ceili’s. To host an event or take part in a class.
Maureen was raised in Drumshanbo, County Leitrim. Dad from Leitrim, Mom from County Down. From 3 years of age, Maureen was dancing step dancing and teaching with the local dance teacher from the age of 12. As a teenager, she discovered ceili dancing and in the mid-’80s started teaching set dancing and has been teaching ever since for almost 40 years. In her youth, Maureen would be the first on the floor jiving and waltzing and ceili dancing and teaching anyone who wanted help and still is today.
Adult dancing classes are alive and well in Toronto, London, Kingston, Whitby, Ottawa, P.E.I because of Maureen. Over the years, she held workshops in major cities and smaller towns across Ontario. She has taught at Comhaltas Conventions in San Francisco, Washington, St. Louis and Chicago as well as at festivals in Canada and Ireland.
Maureen is very proud of her daughter Colleen who has been by her side since she was a very young age. They’ve lead Irish summer camp for kids across the GTA to teach the children the complete Irish culture.
Colleen Mulvey-O’Leary started Irish dancing from a very young age. She took part in singing and dancing competitions all over Canada, America and Ireland. In her late teens, she started assisting her mother, Maureen, in her teens then calling ceilis. As a young adult, she taught many workshops for Irish dance across North America. Colleen has competed and represented North America in the All Ireland Fleadhs, for singing and recorded a CD of traditional Sean Nos songs. She has held many roles at the Irish Summer Camp for Kids such as volunteer, teacher and coordinator. Currently takes on the role of social media coordinator and organiser of the Irish Summer Camp 4 Kids yearly activities and events. Although she is no longer able to teach at the camps she remains a vital part of the organization throughout the year.
